my first rescue

this is jack and he is my first rescue as you can see on the pics he has got finrot quite bad, i didn't even notice what a beautiful colour he was until i got him home as i was in such a rush, he was in a jam jar with dirty water and just sat on the bottom

Jack has perked up alot today so hopefully he will make a full recovery, unlike my boyfriend when he sees another betta in the house

how can you tell he has fin rot? I can only see the tattered edges of his main rear fins? Am I missing something.. newbie i know

he is a veiltail and should have a smooth edge to his fins normally, when they get all tattered like this it is a sign of finrot

Those tattered fins could actually be from biting or from getting sucked into a filter, too.

You should see some clear growth coming in really soon. I'd almost bet that it's not finrot what you're seeing because it probably wouldn't be quite that stringy and you'd see black edges along the strings.

Just keep an eye on him and keep his water sparkly clean and he should do fine
