Got some free fish today! I wasn't planning to get them but they were offered and the person had no-where else to put them as they were closing down their tank. They had a stunning 20cm CAE but I had to turn him down as I don't have the space for him.

I got three male neon swordtails. They all have beautifuly developed swords and seem pretty healthy. They're in my 65 litre community with a kribensis, a panchax, two bumblebee cats and a blue phantom plec. They'll all be going in my three foot tank when I move in the summer and can set it back up.

The water is hard with a pH of 7.6. They are being fed on frozen foods, floating pellets and Tetra Pro.

I just want to make a *squee* post but if there is anything I need to know about these little guys, please tell me.

thats awesome.
my first livebearers were neon swordtails :D
i had a male and a female
they are a rather diehard kind of fish.
when i first got them i just put them in a small quarter gallon tank (i was unknowlaged in the world of fish at the time.)
unfortunately the female died (i think teh male was pestering her too much)
but the male lived in that kritter keeper for 3 months until i put him in a 1/2 gallon bowl for about a week until i got my 20g
he lived in there with African Cichlids and a featherfin but was mauled to shreds about two weeks later. but he didnt die :D
he lived for about a month after that with other livebearers until he lost motor coordination and died :(
the males are goin to be dominant and territorial..... but if there is enough room thats not gonna be a problem.

One of them seems to have a wound or something on his side. It's not red or sore looking, but I'm worried. He's behaving normally and eating well, though. Hope he'll be OK.
