My First Invertebrates

lets say you add lots of algae eaters as a just in case, lets say you need 10 hermits in your tank to have no visable algae. But you do think that you will upgrade lighting soon and get another fish, so why not get an extra 5 hermits as a just in case.

Now think about it, what do heterotrophs (new science vocabulary, its my nerdy moment) need to survive? They need to consume. If you get 5 extra hermits with no food to feed them, what do you think is going to happen? Its not IF you get more algae later so you should get more hermits, its WHEN you get more algae later you should get more hermits.

i never said "damn it all put hermtis apon hermits or algae eating animals in the tank." If he ever has an algae bloom or anything like that he could put more algae eaters in the tank. i know i didnt say that exactly but thats what i meant to say.

Thank you guys for your help.

Looks like for now I have enough eaters. My rocks looks cleaned up 80%. Today I even discovered
a big shell that was stuck in my rocks. Its very amazing how I did not noticed that before. The shell is pretty big
and how I did not see it before? I was cleaning these rocks and curring and did not see nothing.

yeah my rock has quite a few empty barnacle shells and empty tube worms.
