no more than the 1 girl in the 2.5 gal, unless you divide it in 2!

No more then 1 in a 5G either unless you divide it. If you want a female community you'll need at least a 10 gal tank with at least 4 females to spread the aggression and lots of hiding spots and plants to break up any open areas where they could fight. A strong filter helps with the aggression some too. Here's a pic of my 10 gal female community with my 5 girlies that I took recently after I switched over to sand. Don't mind the stocking full of gravel.

I took some of the fake plants out after they had established their pecking order to kind of clean up the tank. It looked pretty cluttered because I had so many in there. It looks much better now.

It is recommended that for a female community you have a 10 gallon tank and 4 or 6 females to spread out the aggression. Some can even work with odd numbers like AlexsDaddy but sometimes having an even number is better.

Sorry for the off-topic, but what's with the stocking filled with gravel? Is it part of the decoration? Nice tank though.

1. do you have a 10 gallon tank with alot of silk plants to breed them in
2. have you even conditioned them for 2 weeks yet?
3. when did you get the bettas
4. do you have a 40-50 gallon tank to raise the bettas?
