I was watching TV this evening and looked over to check on my heavily pregnant Platy and see a lone little fry swimming at the bottom of the breeding trap. Unfortunatly the little guy found a hole and found his way back up to be with his mom and become an evening snack. this happened three times more and i decided to take action. I took the mommy out of the trap and put her in a bucket.. scooping out the babies and placing them in the trap. i managed to save 5. she ate three. thats the only ones i could find. I'm now the proud mommy of 5 platy/swordtail hybrids. They're soooo cute
