My First Day At The Lfs

Congrats forestpisces on getting the job, sounds like you enjoyed it :good:

Did I read somewhere before that it was a P@H you were working in? if so which one is it? I'm in west yorkshire and my local one isnt up to much.

Andy

Wow you are working for a good LFS and sounds like the staff are great aswell.
My 1st Job in an LFS was OK but left due to the selling practice. You were only allowed to sell Goldfish in coldwater and forbidden to suggest other cold/temperate water fish.
The 5G Algarde starter tanks were only to be sold with goldfish and the more the better.
I tried to offer the best advice possible within the constrictions imposed.

Went back there a few years later and Suprise Suprise All the Stuff i Was Trying to suggest was now in place.

At least they had the right idea with kids. A Big Screen TV with Benches and Finding Nemo and Sharktale on Contuinous Loop.

Glad you had a good first day m8, good luck with the job in the long term :D

Trick with trapping the air in the bags is to grab the top of the bag then simply push the air town twist the top and tie never spin the bottom, don't do any of this compressed oxygen nonsense lol.

Good greif i don't work in pets@home terrible practise lol i work at Calder vally aquatics, brilliant shop friendly staff ;)

Deals in pond equipment too got some lovely kois in indoor ponds.

Thanks on the congrats guys (and girls) In the process of customising my room for tanks, (cant belive they were interested when i said i may try breeding in the future)

Congrats on your new job!

I always found the first day in any new job a bit daunting, but sounds as though you took it all your stride. Good luck for the future.

Lol, must have been a different post I read, I remember reading a post by somebody who was getting a job at their local P@H

I might pop down and have a look sometime as I always like to check out different places, my usual store I use is great, I go to QSS on bradford road which is about 30 mins from me as I live near Wakefield.

ahhhh i see, well your more than welcome to come down, planning my self a rasboras tank or maybe golden white clouds as we've got some really lovely healthy ones in, gorgeouse colour ,i'll be making it for my mum who keeps popping in to see my tanks, she's been so good about it lol and like to watch the boys swim about. I hope she appreciates it lol i'l do the maint i dont mind.

I don't normally like bowls but the girl at work says she filters and heats hers which i thought would be a very hard thing to do but apparently it's all about where you place the filter and heater

I'm making it from the biggest bowl i can find, a large sponge filter and small heater, not sure wether to do a planted or fake, if i can find some good fakes then i'll use those, got some nice silk ones in the shop anyway.

Making mummy a presant :D

I wonder if I can volunteer.... Nah, they probably wouldn't want a tween volunteering at their stores.....

Ask around not many people apply for jobs in aquarist shops, round here they don't anyway.

Voulenteering can get you all sorts of places.
