My First Crowntail w/ Pics

It won't be too late, in all likelihood. Bettas can go CONSIDERABLE amounts of time without eating. It's not great for them, and they don't like it a bit, but they can do it.

But I'd still go and get some frozen food as soon as humanly possible.

Absolutely, if you can get them from a trustworthy source. Some people have experienced problems with live blackworms, but I get them from a store I trust, and have used them without incident for months as a special, occasional treat. I haven't had a single healthy Betta who could resist one of those. And Bettas can rarely resist live brine shrimp, too. :)

For some reason I dont think he'll eat live food either. I know this sounds cruel but I am desperate. I was cleaning out my 20g last night and found 2 newborn baby black mollies and I put one of them in the betta's tank and he looked at it and ignored it. The molly was in there for a good hour. I guess live food is not enticing him either.

A mollie is much too big for a betta. I didn't read all of the pages, have you tried frozen blood worms? My picky boy Merlin CAN'T pass these up. Try moving the food around with your finger, that gets my guy's attention. Good luck!

It's possible he just didn't recognize the Molly as a food source. Bettas do, after all, take care of their own fry after hatching, and replace them dutifully in the nest, usually without eating them. So sometimes even livebearer fry might not be considered food.

I understand why you did it, though. You're desperate, and you want your cute little boy to live.

Just keep trying to feed him other foods (preferably not the Molly babies, but I'm partial, because they're cute). It's possible he may still decide to eat them.

I tried moving the food around the surface of the water...he looks at it, sometimes goes up to it and stares at it for a sec and swims away.

Starbrite still doesnt eat. He's not eaten anything significant for a week. Last night after sitting with him for over an hour trying to get him to eat..he ate about 1/2 of a bloodworm within that time. He continues to spit out flakes, shrimp and pellets, and worms too. He must be so hungry. :-(
