My First Cory's - Need Opinions

I like the trilineatus a lot, but I'm set on finding pandas cos my tank isn't very big...I always have to find the smallest fish possible :rolleyes:

I like my trilineatus (very common for me too) but I also have som sychri who are very cute - tiny with little "zorro" masks!

The fish guides I've seen have the trili maxing out at 1" and pandas at 2". None of my trilis are bigger than an inch... ;)

Sorry but I just don't believe that. :) The trilineatus in my lfs are already past 1.5". I'd be interested if you could give me some links to sites claiming trilineatus get to 1" cos everything I've seen says 2.5".

fishindex.com = 1"

OK, I know I saw it a couple other places too but Fishbase and Fishprofiles both have them topping out at 2.5"...

:dunno: :/

The only ones I know of that get to 1" are the pygmy species...and they're called pygmy cos they're smaller than normal ones. -_-

maybe the guy who wrote the fishindex.com profile just had some juvy ones but didnt realise or something? i dunno :)

Edit: however he also says they're algae eaters and good for a 5g tank so maybe he's just deluded ;) either way though I'm gonna end up getting some if I can't find any pandas soon...:lol:

Hi parker313 :)

That link is just full of wrong information. :eek:

The C. trilineatus is not also called a julii, they are totally different fish. However, his confusion on this can be explained by the fact that the trilineatus are often sold as the more expensive C. Juliis. Here is a link that explainers how to tell them apart:

http://cgi.biwa.ne.jp/~fumiaki/Ver_e/e_dif_julii.html

As for their size, if his are only 1' long and full grown, it is probably because it has been stunted due to growing up in his overstocked tank. :-(

Yeah, I saw that about the julii, but they had those as user posted comments so I didn't pay much attention to it. I don't think my cories are stunted, hopefully they're still just juvies! :p

clutterydrawer - yay! B)

They are so lovely :wub: I've not had any cories for about 6 months so I'd forgotten how good they are

Anyway...pics soon. :D
