Since these guys arrived first I guess they'll be the first to breed as long as they stay healthy while I condition them.

Boy, AmberLynn, didn't even realize you were getting doubletails - must have been half-asleep (as usual) when I read your post.
Or are these in addition to?
Anyway, I trust you have nice, sturdy floors, lol, with all those lovely fish coming in.
Congratulations!
You should certainly help boost the supply of beautiful fish in your area.
A noble cause, indeed.

correct me if i am wrong but... to my knowlege, and the crazy asain guy who hangs out in the pet shop, you shouldnt breed 2 dt togather,,yea u get a bunch of dt the first time off ,, but you also have a large atm of spine deformitys due to the doubling of the dt gene?? in my experence you would take a perfect dt and breed it to a normal female of that type,, hm 4 u. and then take the nices baby from that spawn and bred it back to the dt parent... getting a perfect mix and getting the nice dt you desire....

just my thoughts on the idea

azul is correct, breeding two doubletails together is bound for many deformitys and not just double tails but triple or quad tails...which may have trouble swimming and are sometimes kinda ugly, thus hard to sell.

azul is also correct, to only breed a dt and then a nondt, but one that carrys the dt gene. so breeding 2 fish both with 2 dt genes will give you possibley deformed fry, where breeding the dt and a fry who was dt/hm will give you better results.

Really? I never heard of that... -_- I have a really nice hm girl I could breed him to, but idk if she has a dt geno. Would I still get some dts if she doesn't?

yes this is true, 2 dt cant be spawned for this reason, of you use a standard hm then you will be able to see the fry that hold the dt gene as they will have a wide dorsal fin at the base. breed these and you will get great DT, dont spawn any fry that show a bit of dt in their tails though as this also forms problems.
