Everytime I go to my LFS I admire the bettas but I have never bought one. Today I saw one that was purple, I didn't even know they could be that colour I've never seen one before  . When I looked closer it looked like its fins were all torn & I was very disappointed -_- . Then it opened them and it was like a big arc of spikes all in pairs, extensions of the "veins" in the tail. He was the most beautiful one I've ever seen so of course I bought it on the spot, it was only $6.95 AUS (about $5US). What I want to know is, is this some sort of specially bred variety? I don't know anything about the different variaties. For all my luck its probably something very common and you're all laughing at me! :*) I wish I had a digital camera so you more expert betta keepers could identify it for me. :D Either way it doesn't matter, I think he's great

depending on how much the spikes stick out it could be classed as "comb-tail" or more likely "crown-tail". either way, it's a beautiful strain of betta. ;) you are lucky, there are many here who would die for a crowny ;)

Congrats Lenna, bkk's right, sounds like a crown or combtail...anything similar to the betta in my avatar?

So glad that you guys found each other  but I must warn you...they're addicting! :p

Yes! It is shaped much like the one in your avartar, except for the colour of course. Mine doesn't have red at the tips, just a little at the base of the anal fin and the entire pelvic fins. Yeah! I'm so happy. :D Unfortunately I'm addicted and already considering the special betta tanks in my LFS with 4 2.5 gallon compartments side by side. Oh well, what can you do?

I want one of those! Is it like a split 10 gallon with tall areas...or is it shorter and longer than the average 10 gallon rectangular tank? Shorter and longer would be awesome!

Oh...and what you can do is...get more bettas :hyper: :D

I'd consider you very lucky to have found a crown or comb! I had to order my crowntail from bangkok (he's still on his way over here this very minute!). And yikes, you are right, bettas are frightfully addicting. They're all so cute!

You've probably seen this site already but I'll posty a link anyway, they ship/sell bettas too

http://www.plakatthai.com/index.html
yup, i've been on aquabid, i was just wondering if anyone has dealt with wasan at wasan betta. i'm considering purchasing an imbellis from him. i know he's pretty well known but since i'm in canada i need to know how the shipping is done. ;)
ps, www.plakatthai.com is one of my favorite sites, sooo informative.

wuvmybetta is correct, I used aquabid.com. On there he is called Maximus but his name is Somchai. Dunno if that info is at all useful. :p

If you want to get some good Cts then go to www.Deep Blue Bettas .com
Thanks for the info! :)

Hey,I have delt with wasanabetta once I found him to be honest as long as you asked him about youre fish,Sometimes the pic that he has isnt the fish that you will get but if you ask he will E-Mail you a pic of the fish,His shipping polocies are pretty good and the fish that I got from him(Copper and Green Dt with sister)arrived on time and in good health.
I have never heard anything bad about his operation except for the few dead fish but that is to be expected shipping from Thailand

It's longer because its a about half the width of a 10 gallon. The compartments are pretty tall too. I'm a bit shocked that people order these crown tails from Thailand, There's usually a couple with tails like mine in my LFS and they don't cost any more than the usual ones. Maybe they have no idea what they're worth.
