weird though, he seemed like such a deep red in the LFS! He's so cute and small

He's made a terra cotta pot his new hangout, and comes out every once in awhile to poke around...

Question - seems like he's in a perma-flare mode... should I worry?

i've been trying to get a pic with the date, but he's hiding in the teeniest nooks in my ten gallon - i think all the flash i'm using is scaring the little one

he's about an inch, inch and a half ...how much bigger will he get?

He is lovely and the name Max seems to suit him.

Their colour often changes due to stress, happiness, age or temperature. He should stop flaring after he settles in more and realises what's going on. Most regular sized bettas get about 2 -2.5 inches long not including fins. There are excptions though: rare giants and half-giants that reach 10 inches, and tiny little ones that never seem to exceed 3/4 of an inch.
