Some of you may know, i recently ordered a betta and two panda corys by mail. I was dubious at first, but as i have limited pet stores near me, it seemed the best option.

The fish have all arrived safely, packed in a huge box, considering there was only three fish. They were well insulated and there was a heat pack to retain temperature. I'm currently acclimatising my fish at the moment, but as soon as they've settled i'll take some pictures.

The betta is gorgeous, I had no idea what colour he'd be but he's a mixture of dark blue, light blue and pinkish red. The panda corys are tiny, no bigger than a few cms. I love them all <3

Also, what would you suggest adding to the aquarium for panda corys to hide in? I wanted a small piece of bogwood, but would they appreciate that or would they prefer caves?

:wub: I'm so excited.

Congrats on your new little ones! I LOVE cories! Especially in big groups. They're so funny when they get the chance to play together, and so fast, too!

My cories don't hide all that much, but I guess it's because they're in larger numbers. They really, really, REALLY like the sand that I put in my aquarium. THey like to burrow in it and sometimes you can only barely see their backs sticking out. So...if you wanna switch your tank to sand, I'm sure they're appreciate that! :D

My cories don't really hide under the bogwood "cave", when they rest they usually do it by some plants. They really like to graze the mossball I have too :lol:

My betta has settled in fine, the corys are still really timid so i was thinking of buying a few more, i only have two at the moment.
They're so small though, almost invisable against the pebbles in my aquarium and yes i'd love to switch to sand, i cant find any in the shops anywhere though, not even argos :/

This is my betta, the quality is poor because he's so darn fast and doesnt like his picture taken;

Also, he doesnt have a name yet..

From the picture, he reminds me of my CT, Donner. Is he a crowntail?

I'm glad the mail order worked well for you and that they packed the fish so responsibly.

Yep he's a crowntail, its hard to see but he has some very nice colours too a mix of dark and light blue with a hint of red.
He's lovely. He doesnt seem to mind the panda corys either, so fingers crossed all is well.

Glad they are settling in fine :)

For sand, try Wickes if you have one, good cheap play sand there which I have in one of my tanks. Its hard to come across play sand this time of year I guess but try the other big DIY shops like B&Q as well unless its all full of flippin' xmas decorations already :/

Thanks, I've ordered some play sand off the argos website, it was pretty hard to find but im buying it for the panda corys mostly, i think they'll enjoy it.

My betta (neptune) doesnt pay much attention to the gravel at all, he seems to prefer playing in between the plants or hiding behind the heater?
