Hi,

I am new to all this and have had my tank up a running for a couple of weeks whilst I cycle it.

I'm hoping I haven't got too long to go but I just finished planting it up today and wondered what you guys thought. I did decide to go for artificial plants and they didn't necessarily arrive in the colour that I expected them too lol but I decided to stick with them anyway.

It's a 125litres tank in case anyone's wondering.

Looks great, Now you dont have to worry about lighting CO2 ferts and so on lol oh and algea bba.

Well I was thinking of dwarf neon rainbows and honey gourami but may have to plant some more stuff for the gouramis. What do you reckon?

Edit: oh and do you think I need a background? I'm not sure of these as some look good but others don't. I wanted to keep a free swimming area on the right where you can see the fish so maybe the background would be too much.

I personally enjoy tanks without backgrounds or just black. The gourami should be just fine. :)

A Black background would surely set off those colors. It will definitely compliment the red contrast. IDK where you are located but you can buy a black poster board and cut it to size for a $1 at walmart. I mean you can buy it and cut it yourself lol

Yeah I was thinking a black background may be good, will try that later. May even use a bin bag lol

Thanks for your help folks

I've added a black background, only had bin liners lol and I added another plant and a bit more gravel to layer it up a bit so it wasn't so flat.

They can like it or lump it now

Edit: by the way I have this misty bit after I did a water change today.  Its half way up on the front bit of the glass to the right, not sure how to get rid of it.

Is it just bubbles or is the water actually cloudy?

And definitely get some more photos when you have fish! :D

It was probably cloudy as I had just done a water change after planting and I managed to whip everything up. Took this pic about 5 mins later. I still have this mist on the side of the glass, it's like it needs a wipe but not sure why it's there.

Will be doing another water change before I get the fish so can look at it then. Just waiting for my nitrites and ammonia to drop during the cycle. Could be days or weeks I guess.
