My sponger filter arrived just yesterday and is in today! :D

But before I've put in, I did a slight water change after moving around my sand cleaned out glass (inside):

Made a DIY out of scrap light holder and added light:

And added my filter. Finally! :

There are still those little bubbles on sides of water surface, but I think they should clear up with time with the cloudiness and I'll also need to clean the sand off fish feces.

Looking good!

Your tank looks like mine with all of the DIY stuff, lol. It may seem cheap buy hey, it’s effective! :)

Is that a filter attached to the bottom? I've never seen one of those

Thanks, but I changed it around a bit :)
I've just got a problem with lid, the tank came without a lid and I need a lid that is really tight as I will be keeping kuhli loaches so that is a problem to me

Nah, its just a weight that keeps the filter at the bottom :)
I have one that looks the same and it is a weight to keep it on the bottom
Yeah d:D

This kind of filter is the type often recommended for bettas. It's just a sponge and the water is pulled through the sponge by an air pump. The reason they are good for bettas is they don't create much water flow.

And they are much quieter than most of internal filters. I've learned that the hard way honestly.
