Haven't taken pics of my girl for a while, so here she is. She's wonderful and aggressive and enjoys every inch of her tank.

I changed her background because she was starting to flare at it alot. It was a dark mirrored blue and it was just too dark. Plus the bubbles with the vaseline would never squeegee out. And when I peeled it off, that month old vaseline smelt horrible. I won't be using that stuff ever again. Anyway, I changed the background to some decorative window film that I had an extra sheet of -- a leftover from one of my home projects. I think it's much prettier now.

The old background.

EDIT: New server. Pictures moved.

lovely betta, to me she looks more like a he (male plakat) can you see an ovipositer. and the anal is more pointed than rounded.

Yes, I see the ovipositer. I check for it every other day, because I still wonder alot on account of how aggressive she is. :sly: Thanks for the compliments bettawen and _cRaCkEr_!

New look is great. :) And that's really a female?? Holy Moses, gotta be the prettiest girl I've ever seen! :hyper:

I thought all females were gorgeous?! I had 4 but she was the most aggressive. There was another of the 4 that looked just like her; my friend's daughter has that one.

That sooo looks like a male! If it really is a girl she's the prettiest girl I've ever seen!

I could have sworn that is a male plakat but I guess looks can be deceiving :D

Thanks for the compliments everyone. I bought her at a Walmart in one of their female betta cups. I need to take a pic of her ovipositer; I'll try later today.

Lol, one of my males you can see an oviposter-like thing. But I know he's a male. I wonder if it's the same things with your "female." I have a female the same color, but honestly, that one flaring pic is so masculin!

Well, guess it doesn't matter as long as she has a name like Jesse or Taylor and as long as she'll always be a solo fish! :p

ps- you wonder what she saw in the background before that made her flare a lot? Hmm, fish seeing things. Interesting...

When applying a background ,just make it damp with a sponge or something and it will go on really well :good:

Actually, my girl flares too. She flares at her reflection, and to the cories when they try and go into 'her' cave. Once, she flared at me. Oo She bubble nested when she was younger, but stopped after I put her into my 20g. She's an amazing bully to all pale colored fish. So yeah, I believe you when you say your girl's a girl.

I wonder if female bettas who live alone are slightly more prone to this type of behavior?

I have girls that flare and bubblenest too, it's not unusual, but that fish just looks very masculine.
