  I dont know how long she was out of the water for when I finally found her she was about dead I got all the hair off from her I have a long long haired cat hymilan cat and the betta landed where she sleeps it took me 20 minutes to get the hair off from her I ran her some fresh water and put some start right in it. That start right by jungle is supposed to have a slime coat are they anything else I can do for her she was breathing real fast it has been about 30 minutes ago and she is still gasping for air What should I do I am real worried about her I just had that lid open while I was changing some plants around and she was in the plant and I didnt know she was in it. I looked to see about the fish and she wasnt there it scared me to death I have never had that happen before what should I do some one please help me out I know I am getting to be a bother but I am learning alot but not when it comes to this matter.

Bettas are some of the toughest fish around - just think of the conditions they are kept in fish stores in those 1/2 gallon jars!! If the tank has a light turn it off, she needs to relax at the moment and keep up energy. I hope she can pull through, how is she now has her breathing rate droppped? Fish jumping out of the tank does happen I'm afraid, other than a tight fitting lid there is nothing else that you can do, but obviously when you were moving the plants, you had to take the lid off :X Let us know how shes getting on!!

she is better this morning she had me worried last nite it took me forever to get the hair off from her i am sorry to bother you all but it scared the living daylights out of me

FKS&M~~

Its perfectly alright! It would freak me out too! post your heart out on here when somethin happens! Thats what I do! :D May not always get help, but at least u r trying! Im glad your betta is better. I would be devastated if anything ever happened to my fem. bettas! :( Try giving her some kind of yummy treat! That always perks my girls up when something tromatic happens! ;)

her favorite treat is freeze dried blood worms she already has had a bunch of them since this has happened I cant believe i have done something so STUPID. I dont know how i missed her in that plant I just feel so dumb and I feel so sorry for her her little fin still isnt moving but she is alive and doing a little better, i bet nothing like that ever happens again. The next time I will buy another plant before I try to change one.

 It happens, don't beat yourself up just keep a well vetilated cover on top.

she is a lot better but now she has tail and fin rot I have her in some maraycn 2 if that is not the right medicine please let me know. I want her to get better that has worried me sick I bet nothing like that will ever happen again.

Im glad your girl is getting better! :D Too bad about the fin rot. Thats stinky. Hows that doing? I assume better since you havent re-posted in a week. I just added 2 more females to my tank. Cant get enough of these beauties! Im glad that you care so much about yours!

Glad to see that you saved her FKS&M. :D

A few years back, before we knew anything about keeping fish properly, we had a male betta in a 2 gal goldfish bowl. Well sometime during the night he jumped ship. we found him in the morning on the livingroom rug, with our 1 year old tom cat licking him. Well we figured he was already gone but when my wife shooed the cat away and picked up the Betta he was still gasping. She plopped him back into the tank (remember we knew nothing, didn't have access to the "net" yet either), a couple of hours he was back to his same old self. Don't know if the cat licking him helped at all, but that was one tough fish. :)

Here is antoher of Carey's carzy fish stories.....

This guy I know had a fish pond. He also had a fish bowl where he would keep fish fow a few months then let them into the pond. One day he came home and it was lying in the sun and was dry to touch and it was definatly dead, wasn't breathing. He chicked it back into the water anyway. He then came back a few hours later and to his suprisement, it was swimming happily. It is still alive today
