We call them apple snails too. Just depends on who you’re talking to. I honestly didn’t Know they were the same thing though. P.S. Just found this. From Fish Pond Info Forum...There are many species of apple snail. They are not all the same. Most mystery snailsare apple snails but not all apple snails are mystery snails. Golden Inca snails, four-horned snails, and Columbian ramshorns are all species of apple snail.

Until the EU banned them I'd only seen one type of Pomacea snail in shops, and that was Pomacea diffusa (brigs)
