Hey, my male dt has been acting pretty ill in the last week, i noticed he was out of character, not comeing to the glass to see me, not eating real well. this last couple days his colors got very pale and he just stopped eating all together. last night he looked real bad so i did a 50% water change. i got home today to find him even sick, swimming vertically and being generally non-responsive. i did a 100% water change and added some stress med. just came in to see that he had died. i had plans to breed him oce he got better, had the perfect black marble girl for him. he was quite the character, even while in the lil betta cup i bought him in, he still flared at the people passing by. my guess is that he got some kind of bacterial infection due to the water quality being not the best, iv been getting lazy on my water changes since school has started, but all my other fish appear fine, i dont know how he could go down hill so fast. :/

So sorry about your loss. If you think it may have been because of your lack of water changes, hopefully this will make you get on the ball with the others, so that you don't lose anymore. I know how easy it is to get lazy at school (I am there also) and I have just set aside the same days each week to do water changes. MAKE yourself do it. Otherwise you have all this guilt of wondering how your baby died.

yea its really ruined my day, i know it has to do with the water, i just wish i would have done somthing like last week when i noticed he was looking a lil slow. i had done water changes since last week but without a filter system they get nasty really quick. iv been trying to rig sumthing up for a while now, but its hard to do when the fish u have cant live together. ill be solveing this issue real quick thogh, i cant lose any more fish, even thogh i dont lose them regularly or anything, on top of school and crap, this is not going to let me sleep.

Sorry for your loss too :byebye: ...may he R.I.P don't beat yourself up too much..No one's perfect and you did try your best...Best of Luck

Don't feel too bad.

I killed my turquise DT Saturday  . He hadn't ever gotten over the fin rot he got after chewing his tail off during shipment from Thailand 3 months ago. His bottom lobe just wouldn't ever completely heal. Was giving him his daily salt bath and my son crashed his dirtbike outside and he was pinned under it (still running) and I had to rush out to get it off him. 30 min later I came back to a passed out fish; he wasn't dead but died shortly there after...even after I put him in fresh water...I felt so bad.

Accidents happen, and with fish it doesn't take much of a slip up to give opportunity to disaster.

I think you are a good fishy poppa...so even though I know you feel guilty...don't beat yourself up about it. You can try harder next time **hugs**
