Is there a cichlid which very friendly for all different types of fish, colourful and cheap because I'm a bit broke atm :)

Can they be with guppy and how much are they?

Hmmm... probably not, they do have a big mouth when fully grown. They're a couple of quid when Juvi's.

How about a Bolivian Ram or something like that? Should be safe with guppies.

They look amazing and what does juvi mean?

Juvi is short for juvenile I belive ;).

I +1 to mint, Bolivian Rams look great! I have two and they are the best fish I've brought! :D

Thanks for your respones, but I don't think my local aquatic shop sells bolivian ram which annoying but on the weekend ill have to go bolivian ram hunting :)

Where abouts are you? If you're in the UK then most Pets at Home stores stock them. They are indeed very nice and a fish i want to own in the future. Others include

Anomalochromis Thomasi
Apistogramma Agassizi
Apistogramma Borellii
Apistogramma Cacatuoides
Apistogramma Macmasteri
Apistogramma Panduro

All depends on what you're looking for. Some of the Apisto's will rival the colouration of any Guppy.

How much are they at pets at home and is there one which wouldnt harm my guppies :)

Keyholes or in a large tank (4-foot or ideally 5), perhaps Nicaraguan.

What size is your tank? How many guppies do you have already in there? How long has it been set up/cycled?

As with any cichlids, they do have certain requirements in order to thrive in the aquarium. For example, German Blue Rams are fairly small cichlids but they still exhibit all the usual nesting behaviour (in mated pairs) and will chase other fish out of their "territory" to protect their eggs/fry. They also need really good water quality, so regular water changes would be a must.

I would say always do some research into the needs of a particular species of fish before rushing out to buy them, just to be sure you can give them a good quality of life.

I would say Bolivians would be the safest option, and just buying one would be even safer. I believe they're either 2 for £7 or 2 for £9.

I wouldn't recommend the nicaraguan cichlid, people on this forum who have owned them before have reported that they're evil at times. No personal experience of them though.
