My dog was attacked today

If I were you I would talk to the owner of the dog and ask them if it is possible for them to muzzle the dog when it's out as has already been suggested. or ask her to try to work out a rota for walking the dogs so they never have to meet. but that wont help any other dog owners if the pit goes after any other dogs.

I agree with the talking to the owner first...As you know in Ontario right now theres a real calling for the death of any pit-bull that seems to cross that happy line. If it was a child or person it attacked then i would definately report it. But as you know some dogs cant stand other dogs...especially when they look small and tasty to bigger dogs. I have a friend with a Bull Mastif and this dog is such a suck....but put any other dog in front of him and he just cant control himself.

It's your call...but i would talk to the owner and maybe see the dog again...I bet hes just a big sweet heart with a sweet tooth for spaniel.

Well I am one of those persons who wants to know which one you did report the dog, or speak to the owner???I hope you just talked to the owner. Because here in the states or should I say where I live they only put down pit bulls if they harm a person. Not another dog, the most they would do here is make the owner of the pit bull pay the vet bill. You would have to go to court to make them pay that, then you would stand the chance of being laughed out of the court room here.

I would like to know what happened also. It is true that they wont put the animal to sleep if you report it. They'd just put restrictions on the dog.
They wouldn't laugh about it at the courts where I live. Dogs are running loose everywhere here so if one of them attacked my dog I would definately report it so the owners can learn to keep their dogs in their yard. Although a lady once let her chihuahua loose on my friend and me. Wasn't very nice of her.
Although if the owner had it on a leash then I guess she was doing something right. Pitbulls are just really strong dogs.

We ended up just informing our superintendent.. turns out the pitbull has attacked other dogs in the complex so we're letting him deal with it. I believe the mandatory muzzling of all pitbulls and pitbull type dogs is coming into effect really soon.. so that will take care of it. In the meantime, if i see the dog i walk the other way. Things are quite different up here in Ontario. Have you heard about the new ban? No pitbulls are allowed to be sold here anymore. Those already existing have to be muzzled at all times in public.. and if any of them attack anything..human or non-human it's a HUGE deal. No court would laugh any claim brought before it if it involved a pitbull.

thanks for asking though! btw.. my dog is fine again. She was very sore to the touch for a few days, and extremely timid when outside... but is now back to her energetic, fiesty self :)
