Ok, so I'm not the most creative person ever, but I've been inspired by recent threads to do some things myself for my tanks. Here are some pics from before I got started and while waiting for a few things to dry. This is a lot harder than I thought. The rocks are not cooperating well, and they are not drying quickly at all. I'm glad I'm not making these for my boys tanks, b/c with my girls I can make the caves and things a lot smaller than I would be able to with my boys. I've already cut my thumb pretty bad while opening the sealant and my dog will not stay out of the way. This is becoming more of a stressing experience rather than a fun one. Oh well though, hopefully it will all be worth it in the end, and the girls will love their tank.

I plan on covering the clay pot part with rocks too, but I've gotta wait for all that to dry.

Some into my 10 gallon female community, and the leftovers depending on what I make somewill be going in a few of my other 9 tanks.

What great ideas! I did the same thing you did, but instead of using clay pots I used PVC piping so they can swim through it and stuff, I covered one with gravel to go in my goldfish tank, and the other one I covered with flat sided marbles, which will go in the divided 18 gallon tank, and I plan on making more. I like the rock cave you did.

I looked for PVC pipe but couldn't find any. Id anyone has any suggestions I'm open for them. Any help would be appreciated.
These are just a few extra plants I had laying around b/c my turtle hates them and keeps pulling them up, so I thought I'd put them to use. I find it hard keeping my plants in the subtrate so thought this would help the problem.

Your DIY projects are looking really good. I'm about to try my hand at crafting some ornaments/caves for my tanks soon too. :D

I hope you have a lot of patience, b/c these projects were annoying the heck out of me, I dropped and busted one pot after i had covered it with 20 rocks, cut my finger, dog running off with the ornaments. It is so much more fulfilling to make them on your own rather than buy them from wal-mart, or paying an outragous price at Lfs's.

Bad dog, no biscuit!!!!!!!! I can only imagine. I have a 21 month old daughter, I have a feeling it's going to be the same way. Karah!!! Bring that back to Mommy!!!

 wow, it looks like it was worth all of the frustration! I really love how natural everything looks.. waay cuter than the stuff at Wal*Mart. You've got some lucky Betta girls ^_^

I REALLY like the cave you made with the 2 pots stacked on top of oneanother. That was really creative. I like them!! IO look forward to seeing them in walmart.... (I had to say it!)
