My discus

Hey, i have just been in the chatroom but got kicked out and i dont expect ill get back in for ages! I was just told that my discus are meant to be fed twice a day, but i hadnt been told that by anyone i had spoken to from the lfs. I was told to give them bloodworm every 2 days, but that was it. I wasnt told anything about pellets. Does anyone know what other food i can give them? And how often i am meant to give them it?? And also, if anyone has any idea! They fight sometimes, and i think that is because they havent had enough food, but they fight and really seem to be hurting each other. Any advice would be really appreciated!

I only feed my 2 discus once a day, What you have to remember is that they are cichlids and can behave like them. As long as there is no physical damage or one isn't bullying all the others I wouldn't worry to much.

As for pellets one looks at tetra prima as if its poison and if a bit should end up in his mouth he spits it out. You could try frozen beefheart or you can buy frozen discus food, but they might not eat it.

IMO if they are well coloured up and swimming around you've got healthy fish.

I just got a pair of discus a week and a half ago. I feed my fish 2 times a day. I will cut back once the mature. They are about 2 - 2.5" right now.
I feed them frozen bloodworms and brine shrimp. I just got some frozen Mysis Shrimp to try. They did eat some, but were not 100% sure of it. I've read were a lot of people have had success with Formula One Marine Pellet. I got some and tried that at feeding time tonight. They just spit it out. I also read were you combine new food with old food they are eating to get them used to the taste. After a while you should be able to give them the new food without problems.

I got kicked out cause i called my lfs man a t*w*a*t! I dno who did it, prob jus general thing for swearin, but he really annoys me, the whole thing has been a complete waste of time and money and now hes gone away for a month on holiday so ive been left to deal with it all myself. And i am struggling!!
Im going to go to the shop today and get them some pellets and shrimp, i give them bloodworm every 2days, but im a bit concerned that now they might not want the pellets because they like the bloodworm so much!!
I have noticed that one of them in particular 'attacks' the other three. I dont notice any of them starting anything, but then as soon as he does, they fight back. He chases them aswell and there arent really many places they can go and hide.
Im just worried about them really, sorry if im over reacting

No problem with discus being the price that they are its worth fussing. Keep us posted with how the feeding goes, its always good to know what other people have had sucess with.

I have read on forums that specialize in discus only, that some people have had success with Omega One's First Flake. It says on the can, "Appetite enhancement Formula for stressed fish and fish new to your aquarium." Omega One is some great stuff and worth a try!
