My Discus Tank

The discus look great in there although 4 is the max, I upgraded my lighting to an Ibar so now run T5's I use the original filter plus a fluval 4 internal to help as the juwel filters are a little underated and discus tend to be messy, I have recently stripped it down (major outbreak of algae) so now it's not so pretty and a lot more swimming space provided I may rescape again as im still not happy with it, im sure I'll post some piccy's when happy.

Can you tell me how you went about upgrading to the Ibar if you don't mind?? I have heard it can be hard to change the trigon lights as the lid can melt/break if you go higher than they give you as standard.

I took my wife to the LFS to see the trigon tank today. She needs convincing still but think i am allowed it when i move in IF i have the space!! If the sofa has to go..........

Awesome tank

I've wanted some discus for so long but I went back to school so I think it will be a long time...*sigh*

The Ibar is a all in one unit all you do is add the T5 tubes and adjust the small arms to fit the tank and away you go, I also added a power compact to the front flap of my Trigon, I basically drilled 2 holes the desired distance to hold the tube clips I then ensured the reflector went on first then the clips and added the tube, very quick, the power compact tubes do run very hot but using the reflector is reflects the heat down had no problems with it melting the plastic, or you could do what i did in my marine tank I had some aluminium bars going spare at work so I cut them to the desired length then cut a L shape at either end so the rest along the edges of the tank then just mount the tube/reflector underneath
