Btw, I'm almost certain that cocker spaniels are responsible for more dog bites than any other dog in North America every year, we just don't hear as much about them because they don't do the same sort of damage as pits or rotties. German Shepherds are usually number two, but that's attributed to the fact that they are usually the dogs trained as police dogs and many guard dogs are Sheps, too.

alot of dog bites are due to two things, one the way that the dog is terated and two the way that the dog is trained, and as I can almost say that about 95% of the bites that are attributed to cockers are around the food bool, understanding this is the key to avoiding that, in that I have always also trained my dogs that they are not allowed to eat until I tell them to go ahead and eat. that way they know that it is my food that I am letting them eat.

heh heh, that's what I'm talking about! I LOVE obedient dogs!!! My uncle had the best dogs, he always had german shepards, he would set the bowl down and say "don't touch it!!!" and walk away....the dogs would lay beside the bowl forever until he walked back in and said "go ahead" ,so awesome!

Yeah,we definately need new toys for her,and rawhide stuff, it was such a spur of the moment purchase so I just grabbed the essentials....bowls,leash,bag of food and Tuesday picked out a couple of toys

we looked after my cousin's dog, and we forgot to tell it that it could start eating. 3 hours later, we came into the kitchen and it was still there, gazing at an untouched bowl of food!! that's obedience for you!!
