I have two corys in my tank, and im convinced one of them must be at least slightly mentally deficient..

Most of the time he scavages around the bottom like a normal cory, but every now and then he will swim to the surface and stay there for a long period of time, he just swims around the surface sucking in air and blowing bubbles. He normally does this for about 10 minutes and then goes back to scavenging.

I wouldent be very worried except this behaviour often causes him to miss feeding time.

Please help!

tested your water? do the fish breath hard and fast? its a sign that you might be lacking oxygen in the water column? Does your filter outlet help ripple the surface of the water? Corys do shoot to the surface for gulps of air now and again, but spend most of their time in the lower areas.

I dont think its a sign of low oxygen... I have a pretty powerful filter and an airstone, which ripples the surface a lot.

Also, none of my other fish have every done this, not even the other cory.
