I don't see what you guys see in platties, they look like an ugly sick Goldfish.. What am I missing? -_-
:fish: I've never understood the allure of these fish either, but I've got a few oddballs in my tank, myself.

But I've never trusted anyone who didn't think corys were cute. (Anna!) -_-

I'm glad you got some corys!

They are the perfect addition to your tank because they are such fun to watch. When they play they scramble up and down the glass and swim all around the bottom.

Your angels will seem even more graceful and elegant with these little clowns in the tank. :D

Take your time adding new fish, however. If you have a sick platty, think about waiting for a few days before adding your angel. It's better to be on the safe side where fish are concerned.

Have you ever seen a Sunset Platy under a flouresent light. If you have then you know where they got their name. Of course I also think goldfish are beautiful also. Some cultures believe that goldfish bring good luck and wealth to those who care for them. :shifty:

i went to the LFS and brought back every platy i baught previously..they were pretty reluctant about it, but they gave me my money back andi got the ones i wanted...1 male and 3 females....again, on sunday im getting my angels....
and thank you.......corys rock! hehe these ones are pretty though...jeweled

Well I don't know - I think corys look like aliens (and not aliens for my home planet, I can tell you! ). I can't stand things with exoskeletons.

At least platies look like fish.
To the best of my knowledge, AndrewRenard is a serious person who had plans to set up the most beautiful aquarium he possibly could. I see nothing in his posts to indicate otherwise. That he wants to share this experience with us, get our feedback and benefit from out experience should give us great pleasure.

Therefore, I do not understand why others would come along and walk all over his thread. This has been happening too much lately. When I joined this forum, there was much respect and consideration among the members. I truly hope we can go back to having that spirit.

P.S. A catfish does not have an exoskeleton. Snails, crabs, lobsters and clams do.

thank you inchworm....all my fish are doing beautifully....and my cories are all happy....and my angels will be too....hopefully well thank you ofr the help....

ok, i went to the LFS today, and they had no angels and no appealling platies...so I sprlurged and got a GravelVac, Shrimp Pellets for my cories, and PH decreasser and a PH test kit...(my test strips indicated high Ph (like almost eight)) anways...I got home and as a result of my high ph 2 cories and 2 platies were belly up.so needless to say...i now i have 3 cories and 2 platies...im giving one platy away to my brother and im getting 2 more jeweled cories and 3 female platies once i get my Ph way down...so i guess my plans weres slightly laid aside...i need to save up 8$ for the cories, 9$ for the platies, and 6$ for the angels, well theres the latest update...hopefully my problem clears up!

i still need to get my other fish...but i cleared up my Ph problem, i got it down to 7.0, does anyone know how to keep it down?
thanks a bunch
andrew

Please lighten up! We were just having a bit of fun! I'm sure AndrewRenard is a serious person but no one needs to be that serious

could i put a kuhli loach in there?
A few kuhli loaches - they're schooling fish. You need to make sure your substrate is fine and smooth because otherwise they hurt their little barbels. Also be aware that they are pretty invisibile - they're the sort of fish you pay a fortune for and then see twice a year ;)
