My Choice Of Fish

actualy i'd like to stop eny stores buying cardinals as ive heard thet they are tkaen out of the wild as they are hard to breed in captivity (big fish farms)

In that case shops would be pretty empty- a great number of fish are wild caught. Besides which, captive bred fish are often weak and inbred- take guppies, dwarf gouramis etc.

yeah print off the info on fishless cycling for him, go in when the store will be quiet and take the time to explain it to him, also take a sample of your water in, they can test it and see it's perfect and then hopefully sell you more fish.

however he is right about the bacteria having died off, enough bacteria will survive in your filter to support the current bio load, if you've gone more than 12 hrs since last adding the 'full' dose of ammonia it'll have started dropping to support just the fish you have. so you now need to add fish slowly a few weeks apart while it builds back up again gradually. also keep an eye on your levels after adding new fish as you may get a mini cycle. when fishless cycling you really do need to add a decent amount of stock straight off or you un do some of your hard work.
