I bought a upside-down catfish last week and it just stays under my filter. PLEASE HELP!

Can you post a pic so we can see which type of upside down it is?

Do you have plenty of hiding places in the rest of the tank and some bogwood etc?

What are the other tank mates and tank size etc?

is there more than one kind?

i am only aware of Synodontis nigriventris.

There's the asian upside down (Mystus leucophasis)

And some shops don't seem to be too fusy on naming their fish correctly...

It's just staying under the filter as it's most likely dark and it feels it's a good hiding place for it. Add pieces of bogwood etc. and it will most likely use those. What tank size is it? Other tank mates? If it is Synodontis nigriventris then I would suggest adding a few more if you can, that might help bring them out more than if you have 1 alone.

USDS are gregarious and diurnal, which means they like the company of each other so have a min group size of 3
and you may then see them at dawn and dusk (just before lights on or after lights off).

with he correct feeding regime they can be 'trained' to come out during the day.
