My snowy has been anaemic for a few years and has been on steroids, anyhows they past few days he hasn't been eating but drinking loads of water,i was concerned has one side effect of long term steroids is diabeties, took snowy to vet yesterday, they were concerned so they asked me to take him back today for blood tests etc...

They have now decided to keep him in has his red blood count is very low and they're concern that his kidneys may not be working properly has hes no glucose showing

Please send my snowy positive vibes so he'll pull through and enjoy his rolling in the garden for a while yet xxx

Edited has the pic is not showing, here it is again

best of luck. that's terrible to hear. i love my cats to pieces!
good thoughts your way
cheers

Thanks :)

Well update, snowy is back home, not looking too great, wobbly back legs and can't jump around too much...trying to encourage him to eat...
They've upped his steroids to 2 every day for 2 weeks so far and he's on antibiotics,1 three times a day, hard to get him to take pills

The results for the blood tests should be back today,to see what his kidneys are doing....

Can i nominate? I asked a couple of days ago but got no answer.

Missy x.

ill second the nomination hope he gets better soon

Blood tests show that he is severley anaemic,he doesn't seem at all good,he's just about eating various bits from what i can tempt him with sardines, roast beef, tuna, pilchards, chicken and sheba to name a few,but his pinky bits nose, ears, paws etc are still yellow looking,i fear the meds aren't working at all this time.

He's got to see vet again on thursday (unless he goes down rapidly),they want to take more bloods to see if meds are working.

but looking at him,i think he's barely hanging on and just hoping that has long as i can get him to eat and take meds he might be in with a little fighting chance...

I have suspicions his kidneys are failing more than they're saying,i think they're hoping the antibiotics will work, but he's nearly finished them now

He's drinking so much water...
