early friday morning my bf woke me up to tell me one of my fish had jumped from a tank. he had scooped it up, put it in a container in water then woke me up, not knowing which tank it came from. i came out, saw it was a female betta, one of my new mg's. she had somehow gotten out through the tiny opening i left (she was in a temporary container setup without a proper lid). the crazy part is, she wasn't found on the floor in front of the shelf but rather in the hall behind it.............. my bf was alerted to the fish being there by my cat, who was pawing at the carpet in front of the curtain that blocks off this back hallway (to create a closet basically). so essentially, my cat saved my betta!!! he could have easily gotten past the curtain, he does it daily, and eaten the poor little girl, but no, he got my bf's attention by pawing at the carpet (somethign he isn't supposed to do since his claws usually get involved in the process). crazy. so my reggie cat was a little hero this weekend.
and the betta is doing well. she lost part of her tail and little of her fin, but she's breathing normal and swimming well now in her hospital tank.
