My cat ceder is an out side cat and this morning he came home with a 4 inch gash on the bottom side of his tail at the base .It is bleeding badly and he is a vary angry kity and tried to kill me when he came in side.We just got back from the vet and we got some meds for him and one of those cone collers.tHE PROBLE is that he wont eat wet food wich is wut meds go in.We even tried tuna and cream but he wont touch it.

Please help me what do i do?????????

I love the litte guy  and this is killing me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry about Cedar. I have several questions. Are the meds liquid or pills? Is there any people food he will eat? You may be able to hide the meds in this. One of mine hates tuna also but loves pizza popcorn, and ice cream. Watch him if they are pills as cats spit them out occasionally. You may have to put the meds directly in his mouth but if you do wrap him in a towel first so you don't get clawed.

We just put a litle in tuna (His fav.)and he took some.its liquid and apparently makes him vary sleepy because not 5 minets after he had it he droped like a rock

LOL he was probably just mad at you before for taking him to the vet and decided to get even by not eating. Mine used to leave dead mice in hubby's shoe when she was mad. Glad he's eating now. Just keep an eye on him for awhile.

Tats funny the mice part .

Ceder killed all our mice when he got one he would walk around the house with it and showoff then leave it in one of our beads.

you will have to scruff him firmly and then with a syringe, put the meds into his mouth. Don't squirt it in though, put the nose of the syringe iinto the corner of him mouth between the cheek and back teeth and squirt. He won't like it a bit but it is for his own good. Have you tried him without the cone? My cats go berserk with one on and I find it easier for them without. You may find he doesn't touch the wound. I would try without before using one as a first resort. He may lick the wound but that should help the healing.

Glad to have helped. There's nothing like experience is there lol. Those blasted cone things have become popular only in the last 10 years or less. I think vets sell them as a means of making extra money to be honest. In my experience doing rescue and fostering I have always found that they really upset cats a lot and can hinder healing. None of the cats and dogs have even paid much attention to wounds. My sensible evt tells me that pain is why. Pain is there to warn a living creature to stop doing something. Ergo, they pull at stitches etc and it hurts, so they leave it alone. This has been my experience.
Hope he heals quickly. Any idea what caused the wound?

My beautiful siamese cat came home bleeding a couple of weeks ago. He had been beaten up.

My vet gave me antibiotic paste, which was really really good. It came in a syringe you put in there mouth and press and it clicks out the exact amount of medication. It was very easy.

Maybe take back the meds and ask for a special syringe. Use 2 people to get it in his mouth if you cant alone.

You can also use one of those baby liquid medicine syringe looking things. I've used them successfully on my kids, cats, dogs, birds, baby mice, and deer. Not at the same time of course.

6 of my neighbors have large dogs/outside cats and there are a few wild cats too that might have done it.
Ceder is kinda small so it might be a squirl or somthing like that.

Ill post a pic of him

the mice they bring you is actually a present, like cats in the wild they kill and leaving you the food if you like, its not nice but its there way of saying thanks lol.
all this talk of house cats and outside cats reminds me of Stuart little :p

Ya it is cute when he brings me mice and when he does i give him a treat.

My old cat tiger was a outside cat and he lived 19 years

When i went to the pound to look for a new cat we told them that are old cat was an outside cat and they wouldent sell us one. They called us bad people and said how sory they were for tiger that he had bad owners.

I am about to post pics of him .
