My Car Civic

My previous car was a Honda Civic (totally un-modded!) - I absolutely love those cars

civicr, you have a cool car and can understand why "in the name of hobby" one would spend so much money and time on mods - even though I wouldn't do it myself. But then again, I spend my money on goodies and gadets and horsey stuff that other people would see as a "waste of money".

So each to their own - enjoy your hobby ! :D

(sadly no longer have a car - it cost more in devaluation, insurance and road tax than the actual use I was getting out of it in London :()

at least its not a corsa, like most up here!!

i have 2 cars, a renault laguna for my wife to drive and an N reg polo 1.6cl, just for fun and annoying scooby drivers who think they can keep up with me!!

I like it. I think it's one of the more tasteful mods I've seen yet. You went for a pretty sanitary look (a sleeper....I like a wolf in sheep's clothing) instead of "Fast and Furious". Right on.

Being a Civic, it will probably outlast all of us. Those crazy Honda engineers might yet invent a perpetual motion machine....

Is your whole licence plate just "RI" or is it meant to be "RICER"??
Had to say something about this, too....go easy. He didn't just cut springs and put a chrome Folger's can on the exhaust...he did an intelligent and thoughtful upgrade to an already well-engineered car. He performance tuned the inlet, exhaust and suspension and wrapped it up in a tasteful body package.

There's no "boy racer" colors on it like highlighter ink yellow or flourescent lime green, and he didn't cover it in a multicolor embarrassment of striping...it's an understated and purposeful-looking gun-metal grey.

Besides freeing up the induction system, he also went with a well made set of headers (stainless steel by the looks of it), so the rear pipes are appropriate.

The coil over shocks are something you usually see on track cars...in short, not only can it go well, it can take any corner confidently.

Okay, maybe it is a little lower than practical limits, but it's nothing that can't be overcome with careful driving.

A 'ricer' is a distastefully mod'd car; this Civic (and his girl's car, as well) is a great example of well-executed and tasteful alterations.

'ricer'? NOT.

To be honest... i thought someone WOULD have a go at my car.

Why? It has one of the most nicely detailed engine bays I've ever seen. Not to mention, I can't believe you actually got a pair of SU carburetors to sync up properly. I've met many more people who can't tune even one of these, let alone a pair of them together (working on Datsun 240 and 260 Z cars comes to mind). Making a pair of those work well is an artform in itself.

It's an addiction, seriously.

My aquarium is a minor hobby, i probably have about $500 in it total cost as of now and only money i put into it now is the occasional new plant or fish and routine maintainence needs. EVen that seems a lot to some of my friends who comment how i could spend so much on a "box of water"

But my cars are my main hobby. I have about $10-12K in modifications to one of my two Mustangs, and another $3K in mods to the other car. Honestly, the best part of the hobby is the time spent on a nice sunday afternoon in the garage installing that $3500 supercharger kit or $2500 13" brake kit. It's fun and addicting.

It's also stress relief. Nothing beats going for a long drive and hitting your favorite windy roads with the windows down, sunroof open and the sound of the V8 humming away. I don't regret a single $$$ i spent.

I also race do car shows and charity cruises with them. It's a blast
