i just want to add that they are actually much less territorial than most cichlids. they are a very peaceful, communal fish, but become territorial when they are breeding. really all they protect is the eggs and small diameter around them, so they're not much of a threat. you have to make sure to have only one male, however, since males will bother each other. it's best to get them in pairs, or if you have the space, get 3 females to a male. the males like to breed. alot.
