I got some new fish and apparently they were carrying ick. I've had one fish die and another is broke out. My betta lives in this tank. I put ick medicine in and read on the bottle that some fish can't tolerate it. Is the betta one of those fish? The next morning he kept getting sucked up to the filter like he was weak. I have taken him out and put him in some fresh unmedicated water. He doesn't have any signs of being infected. I've had him for a long time and don't want to lose him. Are there any other fish that don't do well with the ick medicine?

The ick med should not harm him. I use quickcure for ich. I think it is the best ick med you can use. Thats just my opinion, but it's shared by many. It turns the water blue, but does not stain the tank glue blue.

Thanks for the reply. That is the medicine I'm using. I hope it clears it up. I've got a 29 gallon tank and a 20 gallon tank that is infected. I bought fish for my grandmother from the same place and her tank is infected too. Its really frustrating when an outbreak happens. I've been really lucky and haven't ever had much of a problem, but I guess its bound to happen. -_-

yes, marianne recommended quick cure for us to use as well. it works for not only ich but also velvet (if caught early enough) and extremely well on external parasites. best of all, it's cheap, compared to other medications. be warned though that getting it on your skin is a no no as it could cause cancer. :/

I've never had quickcure stain anything permanent. There is another ich med I used several years ago that stained it forever, but quickcure has always been temporary. I'm not sure why it stained yours.
