Hey all,
Long time no see, I know I've been sooo busy with university and fish and the new job I started this week, but I'm still alive for those that are concerned(probably not many haha)
So this weekend our little Maritime East Coast Aquarium Society had their second annual "Fish Talk" and it was great fun. I recently just got on their forum and started talking to them about bettas etc. They got Christopher Bilou, some of you might know him to bring in some fish from calgary for the auction, and he did the auction and a number of great speeches, BUT he was one of 3 judges for the betta show that I organized. We had 9 super nice bettas, VTs, baby Cts, my pks and a double tail.
So I brought my nice red Synirr plakat, and the metallic blue one also from Synirr, and my copper girl who was NOT impressed. They were judged on how happy they were in their habitat, their conformation and health and size I guess.
So we all thought the happy little dt was going to win, he was a darling, BUUTTT my blue guy won~! I thought they were kidding but I guess not! Christian said that he looked the most like a wildtype, his conformation was just great, great finnage, and he would definitely be the winner again next year, however, he said: "Once he grows a bit bigger" haha, so I said "no he wont get bigger, he's a mini betta, bred to be small", he goes" naw he'll grow more" and I was like"no he's already 9 months old" and he didn't say anything else except"what a gorgeous fish" and I said" yep and I got him for free too!", so the 100 people in the place just laughed, it was such an awesome day. I'll get some pics of him for you guys. If anything I thought the red guy would win but he has a lot of finnage on him now, and I guess they were more trying to see who's got the best conformation overall
Again, Sam, you're a superstar I still feel like I owe you!
