My Aquarium Wood Wont Sink

So i decided to add wood to my tank so got a very large piece of wood from the aquarium reef shop and paid £28 for a good size one i tried sinking it and still nothing, i weight it down 1st then i decided after that failed i book l it so i boiled it for 2days straight on a SLOW cooker pot and it is mostly sank but it floats upto top its completely submerged under water but its floating I do not want to weight it down with rocks or weights so any guesses other ways ? I am thinking suching cups

Hi,
I had a very large piece of red moor wood, it was so big I couldn't even boil it so I stuck it in the bath and every morning I emptied the bath and I filled it up with hot water for 5 days straight.
At this point it was like your bit of wood just floating under the surface so I got two pieces of bamboo and speared the redmoor down wedging the bamboo sticks under the lid.....
I tried weighting with rocks, suction cups, and tying it to rocks.... For me this was the only thing that worked. After a couple of weeks the wood started leeching a white substance which the fish ate, I removed the bamboo and it eventually was water logged enough to stay put

I'm afraid big pieces of wood just do take a long time to get waterlogged enough to sink.

You can certainly try suction cups, but I honestly think weighing it down for a while is your best option.

On a side note, you really shouldn't boil wood. Boiling cooks the fibres and makes it prone to breaking down much faster than it should.

As the others have said, it takes time for the wood to become water logged. Until the wood is water logged I would just weigh it down.

My wood was tied to 3 rocks for a few months before it stayed there itself.

I had trouble with wood in my tank. I put it in a bucket with rocks on and eventually was water logged after about 3 weeks.
