my 3 do it aswell when there nosing though the gravel for food (think thay ping the gravel up the glass. your get use to it.

edit. 1-2 times a week i feed algae wafers (for the plecs mainly) and carnivor pellets and thay dont seem to do it as much

they say females have a puller belly but iunno i do tend to make my fish fat .

i think they need to be a good size and have a few to compare with to be certain

My 4 clowns (2 being more vocal clickers) do this when they are hungry (which I'm sure is to grab my attention)

Maybe if they are doing this when you switch off your light for some shut eye, they are on a wind up!

only one of my clowns has ever made the clicking noise and I was sitting next to the tank when it did it. It must be for food or attention. and yeah mine play dead alot. lol freaks my mom out.
