My Annoying Clown Loach

Why does my clown loach at night time alwaysssssss make a clucking noise on the glass alll night long lol it is soo annoying lol. beatiful but annoying

never heard of that, mine never did this,strange, not sure what you could do other than move the tank into another room?

you sure its not just sifting through the gravel?

no lol it just clucks like if u cluck the roof of your mouth. he does it on the glass coz i watched him do it. i just have to resort to putting the pillow over my head. but then he annoys my humbug catfish who then makes weird noises. does ures pretend to be dead mine dus lol

clown loaches have little barbs under their eyes and the noise you're describing is when they flick this barb out. it's normally as a defence mechanism and is quite painful if it gets your finger by mistake!!!!

why is it doing it then coz he isnt attacked by anything. what dus it look like.

it's just a little sharp bit that flicks outwards. i know its for defence but maybe it has other uses like communication as well. i'll have a look on google see if i can find out.

i read in one of my books that i now cant find, that it comes from the jaw almost dislocating (but not quite!) (dont quote me on this cos i cant actually remember) when they feel threatened,are quarrelling or are feeding, this is a very common characteristic of a clown loach and by no means is there something wrong with your clown if it does this

i have 4 and they all do it, mostly when eating but also when fighting with each other.

You realise they should be kept in groups dont you?
