My two yellow Angels spawned this morning (right onto the internal filter canister, not a great place!) and they are agressively defending the eggs, which is normal as I've read elsewhere in this forum. Also, though in the pic the eggs look white, they are yellow-brownish, which I take it is a good sign.

I just need a bit of advice now.

Firstly, do I have to do anything?
Secondly, once the eggs hatch, hopefully, do I need to protect the young ones? I also read once hatched, I need to feed them some form of liquid food, any suggestions as to the best one?

Many thanks,

Might be better posting in new world cicilids forum.
Look up the member called "Tolak" or his posts as he breeds angels and knows his stuff.

I'm presuming it's a community aquarium they have spawned in so if you want them to survive and grow you'll need a new home for all the other fish or the eggs/fry will be eaten.

If you do move the current occupents and the fry hatch in their current tank you then need,as they grow, plenty of space to grow them to size.As they grow they need more and more room. Also clean water is a must for the healthy growth of any fry so good filtration and water changes are a must.

You could if it will come out remove the filter the eggs are on into a pre prepared aquarium, keep it simple as possible,no gravel, simple sponge filter etc.Remember though that removing your cycled filter with the eggs on will leave your aquarium with out a cycled filter for a while until they hatch.

Baby brine shrimp are a good starter food, again Tolak has a post about a BBS. hatchery
