My 60 Litre Tetra/krib Tank.

Only signed up to the forum today, so thought I would post up a few pics of my tank to get known abit

The tank is an Elite 60 litre in silver. I wanted a bigger tank, but its in my bedroom and was just starting out so was fine for me.

Tank has come along nicely, forever changing etc..

I have got some fine white sand on the bottom, quiet a few pieces of bogwood and some 4 different types of plant.

In the tank is a common plec, a few different tetra's (neon, silvertip, bleeding heart, black phantoms, lemon tip and rummy nose .. I think!) and a pair of breeding red nigerian kribensis.

Fair amount of fish, but I have a Fluval U2 pump and the airstone going, along with the plants so plenty of oxygen and circulation.

I have already bred guppies, and now the Kribs are very close to having babies possibly getting a 40 litre tank next, too breed some different types of shrimps and having a go at a proper planted aquarium.

Your tanks looks nice and bright.

The Vallis [the long leaf plant] plant will benefit from a root tab (and possibly moving towards the back) as its the tallest plant.

Its a nice chunk of wood and the Kribs definately seem to like each other ;p

I would also see to rehome the common plec as it will get much too large for your tank, better off picking up a bristlenose (or another small species).

The problem I have got with the Vallis is the lighting in the tank, although it looks bright in the picture, its really not. The lighting is very central, the back and sides are quiet dark. I looked into adding more bulbs but the Elite lid is poor and there is no space for anything else. The Vallis was at the back left, then back right, then back centre, but it barely grew and was dying off.
What is root tab?

Yeah I know my plec will out grow the tank which is a shame, as its so peacefully. Might have to use him as an excuse to get a bigger tank or re-home him and attempt to breed bristlenose

Yeah the sand .. dont cover the air stone and forget and turn it on without turning the power down! opps!

Hi there

These are root fertilisation tablets (you pop one in periodically under the roots of the plant).

Hmmm, does your light have a reflector? (some silver/mirror behind it)

I will look into the root tabs.. they maybe of more benefit to me when I hopefully set up a 40 litre fully planted shrimp tank

Yeah the light has a reflector, and the bulb is 2 months old. I will try and get a picture to show what I mean.
