My 6 Gallon Betta Tank

I agree lovely tank, well done, crystal clear water, like the planting as well.

Its got a small power compact bulb in there its 11 watt seems to be strong enough because the plants are growing quite well :good:

You have 1.8 WPG, which should be sufficient for all the plants except the small grass-like plant, which is I think dwarf hairgrass. That needs more light. Your java fern also shouldn't be planted in the substrate. If the rhizome is buried, it will rot and the plant will die. Try instead attaching the fern to the wood using fishing line. The rhizome must be exposed to the water current. The cambomba carolina could also stand to use more light, but it may grow in your situation, though it may be leggy.

Many plants appear to grow well in the first weeks as they use up their stored nutrients. The growth could diminish if their nutrient needs are not met. You have some heavy root feeders, the sword plants, that would benefit from the addition of fertilizers. I would suggest root tabs and possibly a generic all-purpose liquid fertilizer. The hairgrass will also benefit from the added fertilizer.

I'm sorry, I'm being a little picky, but planted tanks are sort of my thing, and I want to make sure that you have some information. If you're curious, have a look at the pinned topics in the Planted section of the forum.

Thanks for the tips but i do use liquid ferts & root tabs. I think you might be right about the grass seems to be going a bit brown & the java is only just under the surface.

Cheers :good:

Very nice looking set up. My first betta (back when I thought I was only going to have one) "George" is in the same type of tank, but I don't run the filter. Initially I thought the current was too much, then later when I wanted to run it, it didn't work any longer. George has a large cave/tunnel and silk plants in his tank.

Hi Booboo, i have got a spray bar on mine just facing backwards and the betta is fine because the flow just runs down the back. The motors in them seem quite cheap probably break easily!! :(
