My 55 Gallon...

I acutally put most of the ferns and one Anubius Nana in my new mini 5 gallon biotope I'm setting up. Any suggestions on inhabitants for this tank? :dunno:

New oddballs would be awsome. (But, no more DP's). What oddballs can I put in a 5 gallon?
If you could find them, freshwater bumblebee gobies (I've heard are rare) or peacock gudgeons would work. I think you would have an extremely hard time finding those in Maine though :/

3 or 4 :) They'd make a great alternative to PSG's  They can get picky though, lucky62's only eat freeze dried bloodwoms and FD dafnia, no sinking foods and they will most likely refuse flakes :) They are great little fish, getting at max about 2 inches :) You sure the peacocks aren't saltwater? ;) :p

Don't get me started on that woman. But, no, I'm ordering them over "Oddballfish.com" instead of dealing with the store.

Is that an online service or specifically to maine? I might check it out

Nope, its an online sevice. Shipping is pricy for me though. The peacocks are $8 a peice, and its about $34 for the 2 day shipping. So, I'd end up spending like, $60 for them. I dont know if I will get them from this site... :S

back to the java fern discussion, as long as you don't bury the rhizome you should be fine. i had some planted in a sand substrate (just the roots) and it became a monster. i've already taken about 10 new plants off of it and it still was huge!

The only reason I took the plants out was becuase my Servum was eating them. Otherwise, I would have kept them in there. Now, I put them in my 5 gallon, where the rhizome is above he wood and rock they are planted on.

Hope it all works out for you .
