Looking nice :) once the java fern fills out it could look very nice indeed :) Great bit of bogwood too.

Lol, yes the water went in straight after the photo(s) were taken. I got the cube from a maidenhead aquatics for £45. Was going to get the smaller one but went for this one as i thought for an extra tenner the extra space would give me alot more options.

Unfortunately the java fern is not in the best condition, lots of old browning leaves but in the week ive had this tank up and running ive had a fair bit of new growth so hopefully soon il be able to replace the older leaves with nice new green ones! :good:

All the plants are either crypts, java fern and moss.

Running diy co2 and as of yet no algea problems.

Managed to get my rock hard alkaline (8.0) tap water down to a ph of 6.7! :shifty: Better for the fish and the plants :good:

I didnt use any of the chemical or powder stuff. I think alot of it has to do with using wood that i only soaked for a day, therefore the tannins are still present in high numbers and acidify the water. Obviously this colours the water a bit but i like the look and its the look i was going for anyway! Add to this the co2 going in and bobs your uncle. It might eventually end up at around 7 after the amount of tannins reduce from a few water changes! That is what also happened in my 50 gallon which is now consistant at a ph of 7.

Looks good. Be nice to see it with water.

Out of interest are the silver plastic corner pieces removable? I think these Aqua Cubes would look better without them.

Looks like they are glued onto the top of the tank. Im sure you could remove them if you wanted to. Im sure you already know that they are there to hold the cover glass?

Personally i dont mind them.

Here are a few more pics...

As said they are glued. They are used for keeping the glass lid in place which is why they probably havent made them removable.

Guess its a shame that they are grey, a simple alternative would have been a small square of glass siliconed into each corner, just as effective, but less obvious.

New pics look good. Is it full of water yet?

Yeh its been full and stocked for nearly a week now. I cloned the filter from my other tank. :good:

Stocked with 7 ember tetras, was 8 but one got stuck between the filter and glass so ive moved it now  and 6 white clouds with 4 ottos. Last addition will be some amano shrimp, am tempted by pygmy cories but not sure if that will make it look too crowded fish wise. Something ive been guilty of with my 50 gallon, lots of different types of small fish, so if anybody wants any.... :good:

In fact il list them in the buy and sell bit on here see if i get any takers if not they will have to go back to the lfs!
