Hi,

Been doing the usual revamp of the tanks (just can't leave it alone) - still not 100% happy, particularly with the planting, but who ever is, lol. Both tanks are running Eheim 2026's in place of the externals which I removed, and have PowerGlo lighting.

My first Juwel Vision 180 - home to Blood Parrots, Angelfish, Bosemani Rainbowfish, Sterbai/Davidsandi Corys, King Tiger Plec

My second Juwel Vision 180 - home to Gold Severum, Angelfish, Clowns, Blue Rainbowfish, Albino Corys (see a pattern, lol) (excuse the lack of planting, the Sevs love to eat/dig!)

...and lastly my latest tank, the PFK Nano Cube, the penthouse suite for my new red Betta ;)

Thanks :) Finally managed to get some fairly decent (for me) pics of some of the fish in the two larger tanks...those that would keep still for a split second anyway...so meet (as named by my son)

I believe the darker wood is bogwood, and the lighter is mopani wood - got all of it from my lfs (the largest piece was about £17).

Beatiful tanks and fish :)

Any plans for some bigger tanks for the sevs, angels and BPs? Would love to see pics of them when you do :) :good:

Definitely one day in the not too distant future :D

Ha ha, hubby just agreed to it (soon, he said, soon), result - now just need to work out what size tank to go for...

I think thats the first fish names Ive ever heard that dont make me cringe. Your son will go far in this world. :good: Mr black is stunning!

Not bad for a 4 year old (although actually 3 when he named them) :) although he does want to call my red Betta "Jack" (the red one from Power Rangers, lol)

Firstly, those are excellent tanks. It looks to me like you have found a style that really works for you.

The one concern I would raise regards the Java Fern (and maybe some anubias). It looks in the pix like you have a significant amount of it rooted in the substrate. You need to be really careful with that. If there is nopt watr flow around the rhizomes, they can rot and pollute your tank. The best way to deal with them is to tie them to bogwood or rocks with low test fishing line or nylon thread. (Cotton thread will rot before the plants root-I learned the hard way.)

Thanks - am getting there with them (now also have the prospect of getting a much larger tank for the BP's and Sev's to have as their own).

I have been a bit bothered by the Java Fern - one of the smaller plants has lots of plantlets growing on it at the moment (which isn't a great sight, but hey, it's thriving I guess, lol).

Would the larger Java's (approx. 25-30cm high each) be okay tied to a smallish piece of bogwood, or would they be okay if I just planted them very lightly in the gravel, not burying them completely as you would other plants?

Thank you for any help with these, as I don't want to lose them :good:

Either way is fine. So long as that green, horizontal stem along the bottom of the leaves (the rhizome) is out or mostly out of the gravel you should be fine. Personally, I would tie them to something, but I keep loaches, and they would get uprooted if I planted them lightly.

Best of luck!

Thanks, that's great :good:
