LOL.

Well I know its been done (yes and done well) but here is my post on the matter. I wanted to start out that I love the forum, its been so very helpful, and Steelhealr espically.

Where to begin.

For those of you who read my last post youll know that I ordered my cube off of Ebay from possibly the best seller* I have ever dealt with!! The first time the cube arrived at my door i was thrilled beyond imagination!! Then I opened it up. I was sooooooo mad. The bottom corner looked liked it had been kicked during shipping. I called the company and they asked NO questions and the same day I had another tank in the mail with twice the usual shipping packaging. They even told me to keep the old tank for parts (so now I have a spare hood, bulbs, powerhead, and filter media if i ever need it).

The second tank arrived A-OK!! I got it out of the book and after having a small argument with my fiancee over where it was to be placed (she saw the 12g at the LFS and thought that was what we were getting) I got to put it where I wanted.

Now its filled with water, we have mixed our first batch of salt and it is starting to run. Live Rock will be added tomorrow!! That night I put the night lights on and admired my new toy. I noticed that my temp was a little high as i went to bed, it was up to 85.4 said my digital thermo. I thought to myself, this cant be right!! So i put a glass one on the front and check that one too. Sure enough, it was that high. Hmmm I said. Take care of it in the moring. Next morning and i get up turn the lights on, hit the hood lights, and the temp is at 72. I was having 15 degree temp swings for four days.

After changing the hood twice, removing my mod, turning the heat up and down in the house, closing all windows, etc. I finally take out the 45$ titanium heater from the LFS and goto walmart to get a 20$ whisper 100w heater.

Temp problems solved.

The next day my sand and rock go in. Or so I thought. My LFS i shop at is 50 miles away. On my way do I got a flat tire on my truck, and since the flat WAS my spare...it was time to go home for the day. No Rock :-( .

Finally I got my rock monday!! put the sand in, put the rock in. I got some awsome peices, and even though I did opt to do the traditional pile, my pile has quite a bit of character, with lots of caves and swim throughs and some other cool stuff. (pics posted tomorrow)

Today we have the first signs of the Diatom Bloom!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yipeee!!! Hopefully the algae bloom will take place by tuesday so i can go get my cleaner crew on my day off!!! (pics tomorrow)

To Be Continued....duhn duhn DUUUHN

Next chapter: Episode 3.5 The cleanup crew and the Younglings..... (yes Navarre I too have watched way too much star wars lately)

Way to go JJ...we're all awaiting your pix. Make sure your parameters are at 0 and you've changed out your nitrate spike with your first water change (25%).... (if you are cycling or had some dieoff) before adding any livestock. If the algae growth is light, you can add your cleanup crew in stages as needed. Take your time...go slow......we're watching (pass the popcorn please). SH

Time for another update on a thread that I had hoped would remain buried.

On a postive note, all my corals are thriving and growing rapidly. Even the feather duster seems to like living in my tank.

On a sad note my most recent downfall ( other than my horror at reading steelhealrs comments on cracking) was the death of my only two fish.

Both my black clowns passed in a two day period. Why I do not know, water has been tested and retested by me, and by my LFS, and most recently by liveaquaria. Everything is fine. Its just one of those things I guess. So Im a little discouraged, but I will put some new fish in the tank in a week or two.
