Fish Herder
Well here goes my first attempt at breeding.
I am using my halfmoon butterfly marbled male - Thai, and a silver metallic halfmoon female - Matilda (Tilly). These are both Thailand imports.
I know the colours don't match AT ALL but she has the best finnage and is bigger than my other girls (the other 3 are tiny), so I thought id try her out.
THAI
MATILDA
The 2 of them have been conditioning for a week and a half. Matilda was removed to a separate part of the tank so she could get well fed and not have to fight for her food. They have both been feeding on bloodworm, daphnia, mosquito larvae and brine shrimp.
12th April - Thai's tank was set up with all new (dechlorinated) water, with a heater, plant (for Tilly to hide)
and a almond leaf.
13th April - the heat was stabilised at 27 so Thai was added.
14th April - The morning after he was added he built a lovely little bubble nest not under his leaf
Matilda will be added tonight in her jar (pop bottle) and hopefully released on Saturday
14th April - Matilda was added in her pop bottle, Took Thai a few minutes to realise, then he went mad . Matilda didn't seem interested
Thai kept swimming round and round then going back to his nest and building it bigger.

April 15th - This morning Thais nest it a lot bigger, although it has broken up a little where his almond leaf has moved, he was repairing it when I left the house, so it should be all fixed when i get home tonight. He is still showing off to her, but Matilda still doesnt seem to interested. She will be released tomorrow so fingers crossed.
Update - thai's nest is now even bigger. The little fella is still building away few pictures from about 10mins ago.
Best I can get of Tilly, she won't keep still
Tilly will be released tomorrow, so fingers crossed things will go plan.
I'll be videoing but unfortunatly can't add the videos until I'm at work on Monday as this mobile only allows me to add pictures.
April 16th tilly was release about 12:45pm. Thai chased her as expected. During chasing his bubble nest has been slightly destroyed, along with the water level change when Tilly was added. It's now 2:20pm and he is still chasing her. I'm concerned he hasn't started to build his nest again like he is ment to, although I no this may take time. Tilly is a little damaged all ready, her tail is a little split and her bottom fin a few tares. I'm not confident

APRIL 17th - Still nothing was happening with the 2 of them, Thai was still chasing and nipping at her so and by this time there wasnt much bubble nest left.
By the night when I returned home and still nothing I decided to remove her, in the space of a hour she lost most of her tail. Whether I left them a few more days and something will have happened, I just didnt want to risk it.
Tilly is now floating in a 6.5Litre tub in my tank with daily water changes and lots of love and attention to heal her poor tail. She is fine in her self and very fat, no doubt full of eggs.
I have give up on these 2 but I will be trying my opaque halfmoon female Wisp with Thai in attempt number 2
