My ~15 gallon fish tank project

I did something stupid while placing the new root and rearranging some stones, by mistake i mixed the fertile substrate with the gravel. Do I need to replace the entire substrate+the gravel?
What type of fertile substrate is it? How much did you mix it? Maybe a picture would be good. Most likely you won't, if it's only a small spot you can just put a little more gravel on top.

I've decided to call it quits. Took everything out , clean it and dunno i'll give it to someone or throw it at the dumpster

If it wasn't that mixed you didn't have to do anything...everything that's in the aquarium is meant for the aquarium. It's ok though, if you wanted to start fresh that's good.

We have all gone through initial problems, and are here to help you. Don't be afraid of asking before you purchase, be it fish (especially), plants, substrate or decor. Different fish have different needs when it comes to the substrate and decor items.

1st thank you all for the support. Second. I just took some time, got a bottle of jack and a packet of marlboros. Took everything out, threw away the soil and the sand and gravel. Gave the tank a good wash, same with the filter (replaced the sponge, ceramic rings and carbon), rocks and the roots.

So here's step 1

step 3 - add water.
Question: Should i turn the water heater on? The plants will go in next month (i'm doing a dark start)

Yes, don't give up. I've enjoyed reading your content. I've had many times where I have wanted to quit, and twice I have! But stay in the fight.

My question is: Should I do some carpeting in front (thinking of Monte Carlo) or the gravel granulation is too big for something like that? Under the gavel i have Dennerle Deponit Mix Professional 10 in 1

Yes i do have. on one hand i would love to see some green carpeting, on the other hand if i keep it above 0.7-1cm it might mask the decor so i don't know what to do

If you don't want tannins add some activated carbon in the filter. It gets rid of them fast.

I do have activated carbon in the filter. The tannins showed up. it's not that bad. Should i change the water every 2 days or so until i get rid of them? I'm doing a dark start.
