I have to disagree with the don't put all males together rule because that would mean that one cannot have any fish together without getting fry and that would make the aquarium business really complicated, especially if someone just wants a simple 10-12 gallon tank with some fish and no fry.
In my experience, male platys are much more docile than male guppies (or swordtails for that matter). If you're going to do a tank with just male guppies, the key is to get more than a few -- 5+ are better, as it disperses the aggression.

Just because it would "make the aquarium business more complicated" doesn't mean that it's not true. ;) It's the nature of livebearers. Your statement made it sound like the fish's personalities can't be that way simply because it's not convenient for aquarium hobbists or stores ... it's our job to adapt to meet their needs (food, environment, etc), not vice-versa.

I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything ... I hope that didn't sound rude, because it's not meant to be ... it just seemed like a misleading statement to me.

Personally I hated the eclipse tanks for my betta ...
I had an eclipse with 1 betta in it and he never built bubble nests and I actually found him with SUCTIONED to the uptake tube. I immediately moved him to a 5.5 gallon with a more gentle filter, and now he seems much happier and is bubble nesting like crazy. I never tried that bottle mod you're referring to... but other than that, I don't have any idea how to adjust the current.

[Edit] Don't get me wrong, the eclipse tanks are nice ... I just wound up using mine for dwarf puffers instead, and they seem to really enjoy the current by comparison.
