After a month in the hobby with my 29g, I had the MTS urge and ended up buying a 120g 6ft long tank. The seller threw in some of his fishes that were in there so I had to setup the tank right away when I got home. I am finally finished stocking the tank and here are the details.

Tank: 120 gallon 72" x 20" x 19"
Heaters: 2 x 250w Visi Therm Stealth
Filtration: Eheim 2217, Eheim 2250, Aqua Clear 110
Substrate: 3M Color Quartz Black

Stocking:

8x Neolamprologus Pulcher "Daffodil"
6x Neolamprologus Brevis Kigoma
7x Cyprichromis sp "Leptosoma Jumbo" Kigoma
11x Julidochromis Marlieri Gombe
4x Altolamprologus Calvus Black Zambia

Here is the full shot of the tank after I was done with the setup. I only have a 3ft light right now but it does the job. I should be picking up a 6ft light tomorrow or on the weekend.

View from the right side of the tank. This is where the Julidochromis Marlieris stay. The smaller rocks with smaller caves are perfect for them.

This is the view from the left side of the tank. The Pulchers have taken claim of this area as a pair had spawned and have fry under the rocks.

And now for the inhabitants.

Neolamprologus Brevis pair. Female on the left and male on the right. They change from dark to light depending on their mood.

I LOVE these guys. Cyprichromis sp "Leptosoma Jumbo" Kigoma. Male flaring and showing off his colours.

They love to swim in the plants.

And the Altolamprologus Calvus Black Zambia that I just picked up 2 days ago!

They're thin so they can use the narrow openings in rocks to escape predators or to sneak up and eat fry!

This is my very first exposure to Cichlids and I have done a lot of research on Tanganyika cichlids to make sure of the compatibility. So far everything is going great and there's a ton of activity in the tank right now. I really enjoy watching these guys. A second pair of Daffodils spawned in the middle of the tank and there's quite a number of fry now. I was originally going the make the tank a planted tank or even Saltwater. However, I decided to take up on the free fish offer from the seller and try cichlids and I'm very glad I did! Thanks for looking. :)

Very nice tank :good: I'm not a big african cichlid guy but their tanks always seem to turn out beautiful :good: Glad to see your fish approve of it as well (they have begun breeding).

Nice setup, you could probably fit some more rock in their :)

I've been looking at these for my Rio300 Neolamprologus brichardi, but can't have corys so I'm going back to my original plan of Angels.

Wow stunning tank mate, and your fish are beatiful :D They make my mbuna look like albinos :D

I think your rock sculpture is nice also, Considering its aa 120gallon there must be tons of rock in there :D

Very nice!!!! :good: I love Julies, but my tank's more of a Malawi type setup. Do keep us updated.....Pleeeeeease?

again im not a fan of old world cichlids,,,but you might just well have changed that oppinion<thanks>
beautiful tank and fish alike,,,love the Altolamprologus Calvus Black Zambia and the Daffodil

Gorgeous tank and fish. You've turned the typical African rock tank into something comparable to a work of art. You also have great photography skills... are you using a DSLR?

3m colorquartz is awesome stuff. I have it in my predator tank. :good:

Those are quite possibly the best photos of fish I have ever seen. Excellent photography!

Great tank too, those plants (especially the java ferns) should fill out a bit in no time and then it will really look stunning. :good:

Thanks all for the kind words. :) I'm using an Olympus E3 DSLR with the 12-60mm lens which I love. I really enjoy watching these guys go about their business. Each group has such a unique behaviour it makes everything so interesting! I've met up with several people with Tang tanks when I went over to buy my fishes and they have shown me the wonderful world of Tanganyika. I actually want to set up more tanks with sand shifters, feather fins, tropheus, etc. However, I think my wife will kill me if I did. :D I'll be constantly updating this thread with more pics.

Stunning pictures! Probably the nicest Tanganikya setup I've ever seen. :good:
