I was looking around on Aquabid earlier this week, and I came across the Mustache Cat (Hemisynodontis membranaceus), and I was wondering if they were extremely rare, or basically any information on their availability. Oh, by the way, I live in Florida (if that helps).

Yeah, that's what I was talking about. I am planning on getting at least a 75(US)gl tank soon, and I love Synodontis, and came across this guy. I'm hoping that I can find one here, since I've never seen one before. Thanks for the information. :)

I've been keeping and eye out for one for a very long time now (in the UK) and never come across one :/
Good luck if you manage to buy it !

Hi bloozoo2,

I have had a look and found a store with Hemisynodontis membranaceus For Sale, but they are £45.00 each and 9" in size!!

I have a hemisynodontis membranaceus he is about 12" long at the moment. My favourite fish by far. Expect to pay £40 for a 2" fish. Availability is not common try looking out for the similar more available brachysynodontis batensoda. (got one of these as well) Need to add a granulosus to my collection at some point.

60 gallons for one of these? they get nearly a foot. 75 sound smuch better. ive personally never seen one at all in a fish store and my LFS has gotten some fairly exotic stuff in before.

If you are in the US go to www.armkes.com (mods if i cant link to that then delete it) but these guys have them in. apparently theyre fairly rare fish and armkes is show quality. 200 dollars each if u really want one.

take a look at the aforementioned brachysynodontis batensodas. theyre not exactly the same but theyre similiar and much cheaper- 30-40 dollars.

Trimar sell various Synodontis species for those of us in the UK who can afford them . They have 8" granulosus for £60 (£10 shipping though).

I don't think they're all that rare in the UK. I've seen them for sale in both Leicestershire and Northamptonshire. Lovely fish. :)
